This week in the Art room was a short one. Students worked on leaf rubbings and prints using crayon and watercolors on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday and Thursday, 3A and 3C went on a field trip to the National Portrait Gallery where we learned how well-known artists have portrayed outstanding figures in American history: from Pocahontas, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass . . . to Eleanor Roosevelt, Duke Ellington, Rachel Carson, César Chavez and Martin Luther King. The museum tour focused on figures that have been talked about in Social Studies classes.
