Jasper Johns, the Peace concert and an award

    1

Work by Caitlin Lynch from 2nd grade.

This week in the Art room we looked at the work of American artist Jasper Johns. We concentrated on his letter and number themes and recreated our own letter theme using the words "We are the World." The charity for Africa song written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Ritchie in 1985 will be sung at the Peace concert on December 17th. We are collaborating with Music teacher Ms. Zwi and plan to decorate the stage for the concert.
Great news! Colette Rodriguez, from 1st grade, has been selected as a finalist by Artsonia for this week's "Artist of the Week" award in the PK-Grade 3 age group. See photo below of her cat styled on Brazilian artist Romero Britto. For more details on the competition, click here.
